Saint Barth is a small island in the French West Indies (Caribbean) measuring just 21 km2

(with over 10,000 inhabitants) and featuring fairly steep terrain.

The roads in Saint Barth are narrow and some of the slopes are quite steep.

The road surface is cement (which can be slippery when it rains). In recent years, since becoming an Overseas Collectivity (COM), the roads and pavements have been renovated and the quality of the road network in Saint Barth has improved significantly. This sometimes leads to speeds that are a little excessive for the location... but everything is relative, as the speed limit is 30 km/h throughout the island.

In Gustavia, the port and major economic zone of the island of Saint Barthélemy, parking can be complicated: free parking lots and regulated parking areas (blue zones where parking is limited to 1.5 hours) are often full. The lack of public transportation and insufficient parking spaces due to the layout of Gustavia create a recurring problem of accessibility in Gustavia.
